The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Vieux-Montreal

We loved this bar! Greg was our bartender and he was phenomenal. Great conversationalist and very personable. Me and all my sisters, including my lesbian one, would like to marry him. Thank you for the wonderful service, great recommendations for the city of Montreal, and complimentary shots with a side of bacon!

What I would call an absolute staple during a stay in Montreal. Great service, directing the choices of Baked Brie, followed by a Peppercorn Striploin followed by a citrus creme brulee. It's not hard to see why The Keg is iconic in Canada.

The problem with this restaurant is that everybody who works in it is Italian, and Italians can be quite rude sometimes. The restaurant only hires them because they speak English fluently.

I would've spent a better time if I knew what ounces corresponded as a size. The food I took was a too little portion in my taste

Very professional service. I really love the fact that at the very beginning the waiter comes to the table and explains the different specials and types of meats. Alcohol price is decent. Food pricing very decent too. Generous portions. Can't go wrong when eating a steak there. 4 stars just because i had to keep asking for water refills.

This restaurant is the one I like best. I eat in a lot of restaurants but to this place I constantly return again and again. The team is very friendly and the cooking they serve is so good. I am always happy to have a decent dinner here. I highly recommend this place.

Nice steakhouse in Old Montreal. We had a party of six during busy time full of tourists and we were seated quickly. Good food and service.

Worst food and service. Every Keg I went to has always served me good steak and service. But not here. When I went there, it was not busy. Nevertheless, my server didn't care about me at all. She didn't give me the bread that was served before the meal And as she served at the other table, she once asked me, 'Is everything okay?' and never came again. Also my steak was disgusting. I asked for a medium rare but some parts of my steak were rare and some were medium and some were medium rare. How could you cook so strangely? And a quarter of my steak was FAT.

Most favourite restaurant I have ever been - 🍴 🥩 the steaks are very delicious! And the restaurant very nice and clean! Really recommendable!

We went there late in the evening. The dining room was closed but we were able to sit comfortably and gave dinner and drinks in their lounge. The quality and taste is great for a chain steakhouse. I would highly recommend this location and other Keg Steakhouse restaurant.

I wouldn't normally give 5 stars to a chain restaurant but our experience was really that good. I asked the server if an appetizer had any dairy and she asked if I had an allergy, which I do. Within a couple of minutes a manager came by and reviewed the entire menu with me and made great suggestions to suit my dietary needs. After I chose my meal, she said she would supervise the making of it to ensure my needs were met. The food was delicious, the attention to my situation was phenomenal.I won't hesitate to make many returns!!

steak was very dry, and hard. I had a steak they called baseball, butterfly cut. Tasteless. Service was good, very kind waiter

I finally made it back to this Restaurant. My last visit was over 15 years ago. Nothing has changed it's still excellent food and good service.

One of - if not the worst - Kegs I've been to. The green beans were embarassingly under cooked, the potatoes were cold, and my medium rare steak was done medium at best. Additionally, our pepper shaker wasn't working, and I literally had to shout across the restaurant at our waitress so grab us another one because she never came to check on us. I will not be returning to this location. I know there is another one in Montreal, do yourself a favor and go to that one instead unless you want to pay $50+ for a mediocre meal. I posted a photo above so you can see how overcooked my steak was.

Very good food here! Cannot fault the steaks or the starters! Had tuna tartar and burata for starters! Both amazing and a New York strip loin steak and it was delicious.Service from the free seating side of the restaurant was flippant and bordering on rude. Service in the restaurant was very Quebec style 😄Overall a nice place to eat!

Great food, service and attention with the kids. Visited this location with our young kids and not only was everyone friendly, but they also brought appetizers out for the kids without us even asking. Great job! Merci!

Had a great experience with the staff there. The service was professional and accurate. They took note of allergies and intolerances and modified some of the cooking procedures to address those.I definitely recommend and I will be going back there. The atmosphere is relaxed and it is a pleasurable experience if you are looking for a place for a business meeting, a private birthday celebration or a romantic dinner.

the food was amazing! This was my first time visiting Montreal and I wanted to try new things and one of those things was Lobster and wine. My waiter Felix was great he helped me understand what I should get and helped me enjoy my night of pretending to be a little more fancy. The lobster tails I ordered were great and if I'm ever in Montreal again I absolutely would go back.

Just like the west island, this place always delivers. If you are an individual of taste, this is your world to indulge...

Best experience in Montreal!!! The staff is super nice and friendly. Antony was out server and he was so sweet! He explained the menu very quickly and then gave good recommendations !!

My first visit here was the best experience I have ever had in any restaurant. The staff is so friendly we were welcomed as soon as we walked in and got to talk with the staff while we waited for our table. The food is absolutely amazing the wait is well worth it. The staff also very well dressed it was a very fancy restaurant and very old restaurant but it isn't to expensive. It definitely has earned the 5 stars for the review

Due to food sensitivities this is the only restaurant I can go to. The staff are excellent at ensuring that people like me are taken care of. Excellent, top marks!!

Hands down the best Caesar cocktail I've had in a long time, and so nice that they do a happy hour between 3 and 6 to bring in guests. Bar is a little pub-ish but definitely worth a trip for some discounted apps and drinks. Our server / the bartender was really attentive and good too!

Well, my experience with this restaurant hasn't been very appreciated. They messed up my friend's order, the server didn't offer us any apology, the manager did the right thing by offering the plate for free. My other friend ordered a well done steak and it was at most medium, he couldn't continue the steak. Other than that, reception was great, interior design is cozy and beautiful. it's in old port, to be honest, you can go to whatever restaurant and you can have a better service and better food.

Wow, when it comes to customer service at the keg in Old Port Inn really puts the bar high. Anthony our server for the evening did a phenomenal job went above & beyond to make sure that our team enjoyed our night out.

Love the food & service; gotta say despite always going early on Friday it gets pretty full by the time leave (too loud for my liking.)

My boyfriend and I had a lovely dinner here last night for a special occasion. We arrived in the evening without a reservation and were escorted to a lovely booth with a great video of the street. Our waitress was lovely and friendly and was prompt with delivering our drinks, food and dessert. We've been to other Keg locations in the city and found that it was very consistent with our usual expectations, and the service was excellent! At our request, our waitress suggested two types of drinks and menu items and we did find that they were great suggestions! I'd recommend this place to anyone seeking an upscale restaurant for a special occasion, in close proximity to the Old Port. Thanks for a great dining experience!

Decent Steakhouse, I guess I'm not supposed to rate this since I don't like steak that much.

Prime Rib was phenomenal - 24hr marinade and slow cook. Twice baked potatoes were artistic and delicious. Caesar salad was even exceptional - dressing must be a fresh house creation. Fresh baked bread served warm was perfect. Our waiter was skilled and a professional. His care to explain the menu and make recommendations was personalized, not a script. Entire experience was amazing. 6 stars!

Very good food! But sometimes when it gets busy they put tables in random places which make it cramped during peak hours

A beautiful setting for dinner in veux Montreal. The food was delicious, and the service was superb! The steaks/tuna are cooked perfectly, and we had the best desserts that we had our entire stay in Montreal. Would return in a heartbeat!

Excellent food and service! This location is nestled in the heart of Old Montreal which delivers a rich historic experience. Our visit was very warm and welcoming.I ordered the rib steak with Asiago rice. You can never go wrong with rib steak, especially cooked to medium-rare perfectly.

Starting with the service, it was extremely slow; the food took so long until received. And when the waiter was asked to help or tell or relative how to crack the lobster he had no idea, in my opinion in such a restaurant the waitress should be well trained. Food quality is average and doesn’t deserve the price paid for; much better food can be eaten for the amount of money paid.

Excellent ambiance, very good service but periodically slow. My steak was incredibly flavourful, but slightly over my preference of medium rare. All and all a great night out.

The food was outstanding. We were not rushed at all and our server Nick provided excellent and impeccable service with a friendly and pleasant personality. My wife and I loved our night at The Keg!

We dined at the Keg last week. Our son has celoan and needs gluten free food. The food was excellent and he had plenty of choices and no problems. Better yet, we left a notebook in the restaurant. We called them and they found it and are sending it to our home on Florida. What super nice people!! Will definitely visit again!

I prefer the one on Ville Marie. This one seemed more family friendly. Steak was good.

Been eating at the Keg Old Montreal for 20 years, i have never had a bad meal or service. Absolute professionals who work at the Keg Old Montreal. The preparation of my steak is always to my liking, the service is always polite, outgoing, and informative. You cant make reservations so be prepared to wait, but the meal is well worth the wait. The price is reasonable, its not cheap but great food like the kind you get at the Keg is no cheap anywhere. The decor and atmosphere is amazing, old historic building in the heart of Old Montreal, brick, stone and wood pillars surround you. If your looking for a great steak or want to celebrate a special occasion, you cannot go wrong with the Keg Old Montreal. I have been to the one at Place Ville Marie and it does not compare at all, the one at Place Ville Marie has no atmosphere, no warmth, however the food was fine.

Great service and good food, but pricey

The steak was juicy and tender. I honestly wanted seconds, but I had to stop myself from going into a food coma. The fries were okay. They were a bit soft, but that might have been because I ate them last. The spring mix salad was under dressed as only about one-third of my salad had any dressing on it. My friend's salad actually had its dressing hidden under the steak somehow. The chocolate cake was good, but tasted off, as if the various layers were prepared at different temperatures and then were combined.Overall, great experience!

Keg is completely first class place to have dinner and celebrate a night out. If they are busy with reservations, they give you a beeper so that, there is no need to stand by the door. Its right on saint Paul street. Close to the action in old port. Meals are fantastic, from the steak to the mushroom & Scallop appetizers.

To be honest, it was a bit long before receiving the plates. But we were 5 people and all of us really loved the food we had. First, really nice bread with butter. After we had beef, seafood and tuna and different prep of potatoes and veggies. Everything was properly cooked and of good quality. And honestly the price is really correct. Service was good [water was topped up during all the meal before the glasses were empty (which is quite rare honestly)]. I would definitely recommend

Fabulous restaurant went with my family had a great time, the food was awesome cooked to perfection. The service was spot on, great attention to detail, clean did not have to ask for anything ,waiters were always ready when we're if anything abit pricey but worth it.will definitely go back.

A classy calm place to go have an awesome meal. Prices are very fair the food the staff is amazing. I was at the bar and I was served by a woman called Joannie Verreault and she gave me the best experience and service I could ask for. Her service was so professional and she was such a nice person. I shall return because of the service she gave me. Thank you
